No doubt with its large touch screen and few buttons, Samsung Instinct looks like the genuine iPhone. A lot of touch-screen handsets are there but fewer have the ability to offer plenty of features in an easy to use package. Like iPhone, the Samsung Instinct does the same.
Though the interface is not as cute as of the iPhone, users can enjoy live TV and photos, music and online radio, Web browsing, GPS navigation, text messaging and e-mails with it.
It can be said without any qualm that credit to inspire competitors to come up with such phones goes to Apple but it’s not right to declare the Instinct a carbon copy of the iPhone. When it’s about features, they are almost endless in the Sprint and it has the ability to outclass first-generation iPhone in several ways and if the competition ends here, the Sprint is a stronger contestant. But the real tough comparison is with coming 3rd Gen iPhone as it can be used with AT&T third-generation wireless network.
The price of the Instinct may match iPhone 8GB model as $199 with a contract of two year; however, it hasn’t been confirmed by Sprint yet.
Both phones have been designed to use on fast data networks and the Instinct will be among those few phones that have EV-DO Revision A, which is the fastest essence of Sprint’s network.
There are 2-megapixel cameras in both these handsets. Both have a quite useable on-screen Keyboard. With different details both phones will connect to Microsoft Outlook e-mail programs and shared e-mail servers. Though the Instinct comes with 2GB, but its memory can be expanded through low-cost MicroSD chips.
But the instinct is better than the new or to be more exact it has many advantages over the new version of the iPhone like it fits comfortably in a pocket because it’s smaller than iPhone, iPhone does stills only, while the instinct records videos. The instinct’s navigation soft ware offers turn by turn guidelines. There is “haptic feedback” in this Instinct that vibrates when a touch has. In the Instinct there is a removable battery and it even comes with a spare but in the iPhone the battery can’t be removed by the users. The application in the Instinct can be updated via wireless data network. Only call can be sent over Bluetooth in the iPhone not music but in the Instinct music can be sent to stereo head set through Bluetooth.
There are also some notable drawbacks in the Instinct including limited number of colors in display, too many pixels that ruin the look of many photos and movies, not very good shape sprint network and somewhat inferior call quality.
With tremendous buzz and bustle the new version of the iPhone is about to come, and full of features, BlackBerry with AT&T support is also there and rumors about touch-screen BlackBerry on Verizon Wireless are also in the air. Still the Instinct will do well for those who want to stay with Sprint.
